Sense and Sensibility

Hello! My name is Clara and in this blog post I will be reviewing Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. Sense and Sensibility is a novel about two young sisters, Elinor and Marianne, who have opposite views of how to portray themselves, and throughout the novel, learn to adopt some of each other’s beliefs and manners. Published in 1811, Sense and Sensibility was one of the famous author Jane Austen’s earliest works. Like all of her books, it was wonderfully written, with so many intricacies in the story that it could be reread and interpreted in many different ways. Set in rural England during the time period in which it was written, the book follows Miss Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, two sisters with conflicting personalities. This increases the need for Elinor and Marianne to...

We Were Liars

Hello! My name is Emma Murawski! This summer I read a book called We Were Liars, written by E. Lockhart, and published in 2014. It was a really good book with an amazing plot and many subplots. The summary follows (NO SPOILERS!): We Were Liars presents  a complex read with mystery, romance, and coming-of-age components. As the summers pass, Cady and Gat develop feelings for each other.  During the summer when they turn 15, which Cady and Gat call “summer 15,” an accident occurs. Cady wakes up in the hospital injured, not remembering what happened. She asks other people what happened, but details shared with her do not sound right. For example, Cady’s mother tells her that she went for a late night swim and hit he...

The line above you just read is the final line from Animal Farm.  Hello all! Thank you for coming to our blog. I'm Wes and as you can tell, today I'll be talking about George Orwell's  Animal Farm. Published in the end days of World War II, the goal of  Animal Farm  was to show how truly dangerous Joseph Stalin's regime was. Orwell himself had actually fought in the Spanish Civil War, and after seeing the atrocities committed by Stalin's regime, decided that he should he should write a book, which is now known as  Animal Farm. Orwell was a strong believer in socialism. However, he viewed Stalin's regime as an "alien" form of socialism. A regime too dangerous to be left alone, and he used  Animal Farm  in order to express his views. Many people didn't know that Orwell sympathi...
